Obedience Class

What your dog will learn at First Defense K9

HEEL – Your dog walks closely at your side

SIT – Your dog sits quietly and patiently until released, even while distracted

DOWN – Your dog lies down until released, even when distracted

STAY – Your dog holds a sit or down position for a long period of time, perhaps while entertaining  guests or eating a meal

COME – Your dog will come to you upon request

PLACE – Your dog will learn to stay on a mat that limits his/her freedom to a designated area

HAND SIGNALS – Your dog reads your body language and/or hand signals. Teaches your dog to pay closer attention to you, obeying your silent commands

BEHAVIOR PROBLEM SOLVING – You will receive assistance on modifying unwanted behaviors such as jumping up, barking, leash pulling, aggression, digging, running away, and others

One of our staff trainers will be able to provide you with a demonstration of the above commands in your free pre-enrollment evaluation.

Free Initial Evaluation

Before beginning any obedience training at First Defense K9, your dog will be evaluated by our professional trainer. This pre-enrollment evaluation of your dog will enable us to determine his/her personality type, aptitude, social development, and behavioral patterns and problems. This evaluation will also allow our trainer to determine what your goals are for your dog. From this information our trainer will be able to recommend the best training approach and whether you and your dog would best benefit from private lessons or a residency training program. With either approach, your dog training curriculum will be designed around your individual dog and your goals.

*First Defense K9 reserves the right to refuse training to any dog deemed unsafe or for suspicion of handler abuse or intent for wrong or miss use.
